Featured By My Sewing Idol!

My classes and exams are over and I have tried to get back in the groove of sewing and blogging again. It has been crazy the past few weeks and I was seriously sleep-deprived. So imagine my shock and delight when last week, I saw that one of my sewing idols featured me on her blog! Rhonda, of Rhonda’s Creative Life  featured me in her “The Wednesday Showcase” post along with another sewing rock star Cennetta ! I nearly fell out of my chair and gasped for breath. Rhonda was so kind and generous in her post- I was really touched (sniff). Being such a blogging newbie I really need to step up my game now to be worthy of being in such a venerable group!

If you haven’t checked out Rhonda’s blog, you should- Rhonda’s work is stunning. What I love about her is that she is a very advanced and highly skilled seamstress but she freely shares her ideas, patterns and tutorials to encourage people of all levels to try various sewing techniques. I also love looking though her work and getting inspired by her boundless creativity. Check out her awesome woven ribbon skirt.

Or her french “Chanel” style jacket  featured at the Haute Couture Club of Chicago fashion show.

Rhonda’s French Jacket

Sigh. If I could only be as talented. Did I also mention she is a pilot?! I now have added to my wish list to copy that woven skirt, make a french jacket and explore boning techniques. Oh for more hours in a day!

Well come back again to the sewing world 🙂
I remember I have though that “a pilot sews..” at someone’s blog. I think that’s her! I checked it out to see more about her ribbon skirt. I was almost speechless with her incredible work! I love that textured dress and channel style jacket too! Thank you for shearing links.

Oh my goodness, what a lovely surprise to wake up to. So unexpected. I guess I sound a little overwhelmed because I am. When I saw your post I thought that maybe someone saw the post I did about you and featured you. I was so happy, but then I saw that the “idol” was me!!!!! What an honor. You’ve made my day. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough, but it’s all I have to offer. Thank you so very much.

You are very welcome! I am still marveling on how you kept the ribbons perfectly aligned in weaving that skirt. And then how you anchored it to keep it from shifting. Amazing!
